Motivation is due to many factors,
- the challenge- as it's a contest
- it gives instant feedback with a leaderboard and graph of correct answers
- it's a novelty
- it creates anticipation as the students what to see if they got it right
Teachers are enjoying the ease of making a Kahoot and just putting the pin on our LMS (learning management system). It is so easy for students to go to https://kahoot.it and put in the pin. If that was all though, it would be just a low level activity to help revise learning, which is needed at times. But wait their is more! The greatest benefit we have seen is that students are asking can I create a Kahoot for our class. Suddenly, students are the teachers and researchers. No longer is it on the bottom level of HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) but on the creative level, students are analysing the topic, discussing what is a good question and then creating and aesthetically pleasing quiz. Think our school might Kahoot it for a little while yet.
